Day 6 - Solina - Kazimierz Dolny

---------------------------------------

After another day / evening spent in the wonderful Bieszczady mountains, it was with great regret that we had to leave and start heading back Northwards. Really - this is where we should have rushed too 10 years ago. Unfortunately it has become over-developed now and far too busy. A nice cabin - day rides out and some mountain walking would be a nice alternative journey..... but not this time.

We left the Bieszczady toward Sandomierz and hit some of the best roads and views of the trip. We didn't bother going to Sandomierz despite it beiing a great city but it was a real pleasure and a fun ride all the way until Kazimierz Dolny. On the way we rode through the biggest orchard region I have ever seen. Apples, pears, cherrys, berries, hops, etc. Went on for miles in every direction. I was last here 25 years ago and it hasn't changed a bit.

We found a campsite right next to the river, pretty much right in the town centre. Incredible medieval town, unlike any other in Poland. Truly stunning  - in my view the nicest town in the country. The market square is perfect. We headed straight to the bar and sampled some 10.5% Baltic Porters. We then went up to the castle which is nicely restored and has great views. On the way up to the castle we saw a flute player who was playing "You take the high road and I'll take the low road." I did sing along and then he played a special song for Marian (2 flutes at a time). Hilarious. He also snuck in to the castle without paying and didn't pay for the camping for the last 2 days as he reckons he didn't have to pay as he slept under the stars!

The bar on the market square was expensive but we went back for more as the atmosphere was superb. What a place. We eventually bought some additional beers and food and went to sit by the Wistula river. A perfect end to a really pleasant day. Good company, good riding, great weather, amazing location and lots of laughs. Memories are made of this.
